1000 Bags Of Heroin Seized In Pittsfield Traffic Stop

Three Pittsfield residents are facing drug trafficking charges after police seized about 1,000 bags of heroin during a traffic stop in the city.

In a press release for the Massachusetts State Police , Last night at approximately 7:45 p.m., Sergeant Jorge Berrios, who is assigned to Troop B Berkshire Community Action Team (CAT), stopped a 2011 Chevrolet Cruze on Brown Street for a motor vehicle violation. Sergeant Berrios also learned, just prior to stopping the vehicle, that the registered owner has a suspended driver’s license.

Upon making contact with the occupants, it was learned that the driver, Clinton E. Jennings, 35, of Pittsfield, was not the registered owner and is unlicensed. With the assistance of Troopers Shaughnessy and Dauplaise, who are also assigned to the Troop B Berkshire Community Action Team (CAT), the driver as well as two passengers, Traylee M. Harrington , 25, and Nicholas J. Mathes, 24, both of Pittsfield, were found to be in possession of heroin.

In total, approximately 1,000 bags of heroin was located in the vehicle, as well as several items with cocaine residue in HARRINGTON’s possession.

All three were placed under arrest and transported to State Police Cheshire for booking.

Clinton E. Jennings was charged with the following:
1. Trafficking in heroin
2. Conspiracy to violate drug law
3. Unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle
4. Improper turn

Traylee M. Harrington was charged with the following:
1. Trafficking in heroin
2. Conspiracy to violate drug law
3. Possession of Class B drug (cocaine)

Nicholas J. Mathes was charged with the following:
1. Trafficking in heroin
2. Conspiracy to violate drug law

Jennings was held on $10,000 bail. Harrington and Mathes posted $40 bail, pending their arraignment. All three were scheduled for arraignments today in Pittsfield District Court.
