2 Arrested, Charged With Murder of Pittsfield Man; 1 Suspect Sought
Two men have been arrested in connection with the death of a 34-year-old Pittsfield man, according to the Berkshire County District Attorney's Office.
The DA's office announced the arrest of 28-year-old Bruce Romano and 22-year-old Anthony Boone, both from Pittsfield. It is alleged that the two men beat and stabbed William Catalano on Robbins Avenue late Monday afternoon.
Romano and Boone have both been charged with one count each of murder and are being held at the Berkshire County House of Corrections without the right to bail. They are scheduled to officially be arraigned on the charges on Wednesday.
Pittsfield Police responded to a 911 call on Monday afternoon where they found Catalano laying on the ground. Catalano was transferred to Berkshire Medical Center where he died shortly after 7 p.m.
A warrant has been issued for a third suspect investigators say was also involved in the incident. According to the DA's office, 20-year-old Jason Sefton of Pittsfield is being sought by police. Earlier in the day on Tuesday, 34-year-old Shane Smith of Pittsfield was charged with providing misleading information in relation to the investigation. He pleaded not guilty and was ordered to be held at the Berkshire County House of Correction on $3,000 bail. He will be back in court for a pre-trial hearing on Nov.15.
