Looks like there will be another reason to enjoy downtown Pittsfield. Get Ready to hoist a  brew as 41 North Tap Room, has eyed North Street to develop a brewery, taproom and kitchen.

I Berkshires.com is reporting that the Pittsfield City council on Tuesday referred an allocation of funds from the Economic Development Fund and a tax increment financing agreement to benefit the development of a brewery and taproom at 41 North St.

Developers Montra II, whose main principle is Robert Trask, also owns 51 Park Restaurant and Tavern in Lee and, Trask plans to purchase 37-45 North St, site of the former J. Allen's Clubhouse, and invest $1.7 million in the property including its purchase.

Not only will it be just a brewery but also be a full-service restaurant with seating capacity for around 150. The brewing operation will be visible from the bar.

Trask intends to continue lease agreements with both Hot Harry's and the Evangelistic Ministry Church are currently in the building.

41 North Tap Room would be on the hook for investing the $1,700,000 in the property as well as creating 30 full-time jobs within five years.

The jobs include operational management for brewery and restaurant, head brewer, marketing staff, cooks, servers, bartenders and support staff.
