Things are starting to look on the brighter side as far as vaccines go. Berkshire County has emerged as a leader in Massachusetts in the vaccine rollout. The Berkshire Eagle reports that Secretary of Health and Human Services Marylou Sudders told Lawmakers yesterday that Berkshire County had the highest vaccination rate per capita so far in the commonwealth.

Lawmakers on the call told the Eagle that according to Sudders, about 7 percent of county residents have received at least one dose. They said Sudders credited the Berkshires for successful collaboration between private health care providers and public health officials.

According to figures released Thursday by the state, 3,950 additional doses of vaccine were provided to Berkshire County over the past seven days. Berkshire County has received a total of 15,475 vaccine doses to date.

Local and state health officials say that people should continue to check maimmunizations.org for new available appointments.
