Body Pulled from Silver Lake Identified
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner confirmed the identity of the deceased man emergency personnel recovered from Silver Lake in Pittsfield on Monday night after a six-hour search.
According to the Berkshire District Attorney’s Office, divers recovered the body of 55-year-old Stephen Dus, of Pittsfield, shortly before 9 p.m. on Monday after an extensive search and recovery operation.
Witnesses reported hearing someone call for help in the water at approximately 2:44 p.m.
Multiple agencies responded and performed an extensive search. Participating agencies included: Pittsfield Fire, Police, Action Ambulance, Berkshire County Sheriff’s Office Berkshire County Dive Team, Stockbridge Fire Department, Lanesborough Fire Department, Lanesborough Police Department, Hinsdale Fire Department, the Massachusetts Department of Fire Services, Massachusetts Environmental Police, and the Massachusetts State Police Dive Team.
Shortly before 9 p.m., emergency personnel were able to located and recover Dus’ body from the lake.
