Police in Great Barrington are investigating a morning bomb threat at Simon's Rock College in Great Barrington ThursdayInvestigators say that there is no danger to anyone on campus or the general public. 

The Great Barrington Police were made aware of a threat at the campus of Bard College at Simons Rock just after 7 am Thursday. The campus was immediately put on lockdown and appropriate emergency and investigative personnel were dispatched to the scene. 

Further information will be released at a later time.

Great Barrington Police Chief Paul Storti told the Berkshire Eagle... 

Right now, I'm just trying to make sure everybody’s safe over there and that’s priority number one, who could not provide further details on the threat. 

 

According to the Eagle, Storti said that around 8:15 this morning, police were still investigating and that he was busy making sure he had officers on the scene. All entrances to the campus were being blocked off.

Some South County residents received a robocall phone message from Great Barrington Police that said: 

This is the Great Barrington Police Department calling to inform you that Simon‘s Rock College has received a bomb threat. The Great Barrington Police and Fire departments along with other assisting agencies are investigating this incident. No evacuations are required at this time. We will inform you if this changes-thank you. 

Bard College at Simon's Rock is a private residential liberal arts college in Great Barrington. It is a subset of Bard College, which was founded in 1860 and is located nearby, in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York.
