The National Football League seemed to be cruising along and doing what needed to be done to avoid having the coronavirus have an effect on its season, but that all changed at the end of September when it was announced that the Tennessee Titans had three players and five other personnel that had tested positive for the virus. The announcement would mean the first shift in the NFL schedule when the Titans game with the Pittsburgh Steelers had to be postponed. The Titans' outbreak is now up to 20 cases, with 18 positives since Tuesday.

Now, the coronavirus has hit home for the New England Patriots, with the revelation on Saturday that the Patriots new star quarterback, Cam Newton, had tested positive for the virus. Newton and the Kansas City Chiefs practice squad quarterback Jordan Ta’amu were both added to the NFL’s COVID-19 reserve list Saturday, forcing the league to postpone the Patriots’ game at Kansas City until tonight.

Before it was announced that Newton was positive for COVID-19, the Patriots posted this fairly allusive tweet. It was almost like Bill Belichick wrote it himself…

Its not certain when Newton will be back on the field, but he did say that he plans on taking the time needed to get healthy. He posted this on Instagram Sunday…

SIDE NOTE: If you are having difficulty reading Cam's post, he's not all that concerned about it. His Instagram profile says:

IM ÑØT CHÅÑGIÑG TH£ ?ÅŸ I TŸ?£; gêt ovêr ît?ÿou pošt ÿour wâÿ; I ?اT MIÑ£...

Tonight's game in Kansas City will kickoff at 7:05 PM. 1420 WBEC will pick up coverage beginning at 6:00PM.

Brian Hoyer is expected to make the start for the Patriots tonight. Hoyer has been the Patriots’ backup quarterback for the first three games of the season.
