The city of Pittsfield’s spring paving list is now available on the city’s website, cityofpittsfield.org.

Bidding for the contracted work is expected to begin the week of March 28, with paving slated to start in early May.
DPS Commissioner Ricardo Morales said the list incorporates several factors...
We use our asset management evaluation system to compile this list. This process includes the pavement condition index which reflects the amount and level of distress for each road. Then, we score each road into a pavement condition index. Additionally, we include input from ward councilors and take into account existing projects.
This is interesting... there have been quite a few miles of roads paved in the City of Pittsfield over the last 22 years:

It's hard to gauge an exact number based on the bar graph, but It looks to be somewhere in the neighborhood of 96,000 miles! That's not counting this spring. Add another 10,000 miles for this spring and we have something like 106,000 miles. That's a lot of asphalt!
