In the wake of the closure of Pittsfield public schools now through Friday, Mar. 27, the school district is working in collaboration with community partners to provide food accommodations during this time.

Beginning Monday, Mar. 16, “grab-and-go” breakfast and lunch packages will be available to children in the city over the next two weeks. These nutritious grab-and-go food packages will be available between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. at the following sites in the city:

o Morningside Community School, 100 Burbank St.
o Conte Community School, 200 West Union St.
o Dower Square Housing Village, 253 Wahconah St.
o The Berkshire Family YMCA, 292 North St.
o Gladys Brigham Center, 165 East St.
o Boys & Girls Club of the Berkshires, 16 Melville St.
o The Brattlebrook Apartments, April Lane.

“We are grateful to our school nutrition and transportation professionals in the school district for making this possible. We are also grateful to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and to the Federal Department of Agriculture for making this vital service available,” said Superintendent Jason “Jake” McCandless. “Thank you to all the partners identified above for making this program for the community’s children possible.”
