A man in his 20s barricaded himself inside an Eleanor Road home in Pittsfield for several hours Tuesday afternoon before he was taken into custody by members of the Berkshire County Special Response Team.

The Berkshire Eagle reports that police weren’t offering many details. They declined to identify the suspect because the charges the man faces are related to a domestic incident.

According to police, based on the information available to authorities Tuesday evening, the incident occurred at 157 Eleanor Road, where the suspect was barricaded inside a home.

Joining the Berkshire County Special Response Team at the scene were an armored vehicle, well over a dozen police cruisers, and an ambulance.

The special response team entered the home wearing tactical gear and arrested the subject after the standoff which lasted into a fourth hour.
