North Adams Native and Former Acting Governor Jane Swift Will Ann

North Adams native and former Acting Governor Jane Swift has accepted an invitation to be the 2021 Fall Foliage Parade parade announcer. The parade is held annually in North Adams but was skipped last year because of the pandemic. 1Berkshire made the announcement on Thursday via a media release that the organization was excited to have such an esteemed figure to welcome the Fall Foliage Parade back to the Berkshires.

Governor Jane Swift’s list of accolades, achievements, milestones, and superlatives is unparalleled. She is a champion and role model for women in leadership and public service, and an inspiring example in this year when we will elect the first woman mayor in North Adams’ history. Governor Swift continues to use her voice to speak on issues that matter to people here in the Northern Berkshires and I’m so excited that she will be the voice of this year’s Fall Foliage Parade. ~ Mayor Tom Bernard of North Adams

Swift will be sitting up high in the grandstand on Main Street when the parade steps off in North Adams on Sunday. The parade will kick off on its new shorter route at 1:00 pm.

It is an honor and a thrill to be the announcer at this year's parade. Some of my best memories are marching in this parade as a child carrying a banner all the way through my political career. I hope I can convey that joy to those marching and watching from our beautiful Main Street. ~ Jane Swift
