Patriots Fans React on Twitter to ESPN’s Story of Dysfunction
It has been the story of the day in the world of sports, and a story that we have been expecting from "The Worldwide Leader in Sports", as they have been hyping this piece up for some time now.
ESPN's Seth Wickersham released his article "For Kraft, Brady and Belichick, is this the beginning of the end?," early Friday morning discussing the alleged "months of silent anger" between QB Tom Brady, head coach Bill Belichick and team owner Robert Kraft. First of all, none of these "sources" were named in the article. But, I am of the belief that, at least a little, where there is smoke, you will find fire.
When you work in the same place with the same core of people for 20-years, if you don't think there will be any friction among different departments or positions, then you are wrong. Brady, Belichick and Kraft have proven to be the best at what they do, and when you have all of that in one place, there is bound to be some butting of the heads. I'm not going to bore you with the ins and outs of the article as you can certainly check it out for yourself and cast your own opinion.
My opinion is there is some truth to it, but the keyword is "some". It's professional sports and even the most successful franchise of this century is bound to have internal disagreements. I also believe that this article should scare the pants off of every other team in the NFL this playoff season. If there is one team you don't want to provide additional ammunition to, it's the Patriots. So to Seth Wickersham, from one person who has dabbled into the journalism world, to someone who is at a huge outlet like ESPN, it is a fascinating read. From a Patriots fan; thanks for the extra motivation.
Brady, Belichick and Kraft released a joint statement on Friday morning to negate the ESPN report from the early morning hours.
"For the past 18 years, the three of us have enjoyed a very good and productive working relationship," read the statement. "In recent days, there have been multiple media reports that have speculated theories that are unsubstantiated, highly exaggerated or flat out inaccurate. The three of us share a common goal. We look forward to the enormous challenge of competing in the postseason and the opportunity to work together in the future, just as we have for the past 18 years. It is unfortunate that there is even a need for us to respond to these fallacies. As our actions have shown, we stand united."
With that being said, Patriots fans had a lot to say to Mr. Wickersham via the magic of Twitter on Friday morning and you can check out some of those reactions below:
