Pitts. Public School Food Service Offerings
The Pittsfield Public Schools are announcing some additions to their remote learning foodservice plans, including late afternoon and early evening meal pickup. Here's the Press Release from the PPS Administration Center:
The school cafeteria is an important component of successfully educating children. In addition to providing healthy and nutritious meals, school foodservice departments also reinforce health and nutrition information taught in the classroom.
With the mission to ensure that all children in Pittsfield have access to eating healthy, nutritious, and appetizing meals on a daily basis, the Pittsfield Public Schools has been offering daily meal pick-up options throughout the time in which in-person education has been paused.
In keeping with this mission, as we approach the traditional holiday school break, the Pittsfield Public Schools is proud to announce the addition of a late afternoonearly evening meal pick-up option for students and families.
While offering further flexibility for students and families in need of picking up meals, these additions to the schedule will also provide families the opportunity to receive multiple days of meals at one time.
Regular midday meal service at all sites will continue.
Newly added late afternoonearly evening meal service sites include:
Conte Community School (West Union Street)
Morningside Community School (Burbank Street)
Thursday, December 17th & Monday, December 21st
4:00 PM-6:00 PM
Multiple days of meals will be distributed at each location, on each day – including a 12 gallon of milk on each pick-up day.
Pick-ups made on Monday will consist of meals for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
Pick-ups made on Thursday will consist of meals for Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.
In an effort to ensure that enough multi-day meals are prepared and available on Monday and Thursday, families are encouraged to place their order place using the www.pittsfield.net website. A link to the meal pick-up form is located on the top of the website, in the announcements section. Families are encouraged to order meals by 7 AM on the day of pick-up.
