The City of Pittsfield reported some issues today with a water main break and a separate issue of a malfunctioning elevator forcing the shutdown of the city’s Senior Center for the rest of the week.

The water main break is in the vicinity of Highland Ave.  According to the post in the City Hall – City of Pittsfield Facebook page, water service will be unavailable during the repair process.  The effect will primarily be felt in the vicinity of Pecks Road to McAllister extension according to the post.  That area may have water service but it may be discolored while the repairs are being conducted.  The city’s FB page will update the public with any updates as necessary.  In the post, the city also thanked residence for their patience.

The other issue causing a disruption in service is at the city’s Senior Center is a malfunctioning elevator.  In a post to the Pittsfield Council on Aging and Senior Center Facebook page announcing that activities at the center have been canceled through this Friday the 22nd.  Repairs are underway and the public will be notified if the lift is repaired and inspected sooner than expected.

The post goes on to inform that the shutdown does not affect transportation services or the Supportive Day Program.   Grab & Go meals are available this week and your meal can be reserved by calling 413-499-9346 according to the post.   The menu posted sounds good…Tuna Salad today…Meatball Grinder tomorrow…Chicken Divan on Thursday and Roast Pork on Friday.  Even with the shutdown of the Senior Center the office is staffed if you have any questions.
