Multiple reports are stating that infamous Boston-area mobster James "Whitey" Bulger was found dead after he was transferred to a West Virginia prison.

The news was first reported by Michele McPhee, an investigative journalist, on Twitter and was followed up by a report from Boston 25 News, who had confirmed it from a source close to the situation. Multiple outlets have also confirmed the reports from federal officials.

Bulger was sentenced to life in 2013 after being convicted of multiple crimes, including having his hand in 11 murders. He was on the FBI's Most Wanted Fugitives list for 16 years prior to his 2011 arrest in California.
