Pittsfield firefighters were called to a major structure fire Monday evening on Brown Street.

The towering blaze came from the roof of a duplex at 48-50 Brown Street, just a few houses down from the car wash on Tyler Street.

Firefighters were seen battling the blaze on both sides as neighbors and wandering eyes watched. Video surfaced of Monday evening's fire courtesy of iBerkshires.

According to sources close to the Pittsfield Fire Department, the roof collapsed on the multistory duplex and everyone was able to evacuate the house. Another source revealed that the fire "went so quick, in a matter of 15-20 minutes. Scary!" A witness to the massive  blaze said that they have "never seen anything like that."

No additional information was made available and we are told the cause of the fire is under investigation.
