It will be a great way to kick off school vacation in Pittsfield as the Family Fun Winter Carnival returns to Springside Park this Saturday.

The event will take place between Noon and 4 p.m. and all events are free to the public. Activities will take place at the pond and Rotary Park on Springside Ave. In case the temperatures get a little bit cold for you, there will be a warming hut at the pavilion with hot chocolate provided all day long.

The Winter Carnival is hosted by the Springside Park Conservancy.

Here is the full schedule of events for Saturday:

Noon: Ice Skating begins until 4 p.m. A limited number of skates will be available for use for free.

12:15: Cardboard Sled Competition. Attendees are encouraged to make a cardboard sled and bring it along. Prizes will be awarded for the most creative and fastest sleds. There will be cardboard available at the park, but in a limited amount.

12:30: Fat bike race and demonstration. Bikes will be available to try.

12:30 Snow creations with prizes awarded for the most creative.

1:00: Kids Outdoor Games until 2:00.

1:15: Snow shoe/hike for families

1:30: Snow painting with prizes awarded for best paintings.

2:00: Scavenger hunt

2:00: Obstacle Course until 3:00.

3:00: Dodgeball

3:00: Adult snow shoe/hike

There will also be a "Hiking with Healers" event between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. that starts at Springside House.
