Here are the particulars of the Department of Conservation and Recreation advisory:
State Parks
On Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at 3:00PM, the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) will implement a closure of agency managed state parks in Western and Central Massachusetts ahead of Tropical Storm Isaias. Additionally, the boat ramps at Quabbin Reservoir have been closed effective 12:00PM. State parks in Western and Central Massachusetts will re-open on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 for regular visitor hours pending potential storm impacts on the state park system.
Waterfronts and Pools
On Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at 3:00PM, the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) will implement a closure of all agency managed waterfronts and pools statewide ahead of Tropical Storm Isaias. All waterfronts and pools will re-open on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 for regular visitor hours pending potential storm impacts on the state park system.
Campgrounds
Visitors with camping reservations at agency managed campgrounds statewide were notified by email and phone, of the high winds and heavy rains expected from the tropical storm. Campers will not be asked to leave the campground. If campers have questions or concerns, they are advised to call the campground headquarters.
As a reminder, the safest place to be during a severe weather event is either in a building or vehicle, not in a temporary structure. The agency urges visitors to monitor weather reports and take precautions as needed.
