So many things are different now as we make our way though the holiday season, mostly due to the coronavirus pandemic. We are all practicing social distancing, wearing masks – and gloves in many cases – and doing without all the little things that make us feel like human beings. Of course, we miss just going about our normal lives without restrictions, but I’m talking about the simple human touch of handshakes, hugs, or even that peck on the cheek from grandma.

One thing that has not changed is the magic of Christmas, and the expectation that Santa Claus will soon be on his way. Nothing can brighten up a child more than a call from Santa Claus, and now is the time to get your child signed up to receive one!

The Pittsfield Department of Community Development Recreation Program is conducting its annual North Pole Calling Program from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 16th and Thursday, Dec. 17th. Sign-up forms are being emailed from the Pittsfield Public School Department.

Electronic forms which can be saved and emailed are available through a link on the home page of the city’s website, www.cityofpittsfield.org. Hard copy forms are also available at City Hall, which is located at 70 Allen Street. If you want to go to City Hall to pick-up a form, you should call ahead at 499-9368 to schedule a pick-up time. Completed forms must be returned or submitted online by Monday, Dec.14th.

This program is for City of Pittsfield children in kindergarten through second grade. If older Pittsfield children still believe, please feel free to submit a form on their behalf.

In 2019, Santa called more than 140 children in the City of Pittsfield.
