All the details have not yet been released, but law enforcement agencies in the City of Pittsfield and the Town of Lenox have responded to five separate robberies at five local convenience stores since yesterday afternoon. Details as to which specific convenience stores were held up were not given at the time of the press release from the Pittsfield Police Department.

According to LT. John Soules, at this time the robberies are believed to have been perpetrated by the same individual. The suspect has been described as a white male, tall and slender. The suspect has threatened that he is in possession of a weapon, although none has been shown. He has also demanded cash from the businesses. The robberies have occurred at different hours of the day and night.

As a result of these incidents, The Pittsfield Police Department is increasing patrols at this time. The department is looking for leads and is asking all area business owners and employees to be aware of any suspicious individuals inside or around their businesses.

If your business is equipped with a video surveillance system or alarm, police are asking that you ensure that they are operational. The department is asking that anyone with any information or knowledge about the incidents to call them, or if anyone has seen any suspicious activity to please report it to the Pittsfield Police Department right away at 413-448-9700 or 911 if it is an emergency.

The department says that more information regarding these incidents will be released at a later time.
