As times continue to change in the year of COVID-19, annual events, especially holiday traditions, have had to get creative.
Every year crowds gather to see the City of Pittsfield light the holiday tree in Park Square but this year the event has gone virtual.
PCTV and Pittsfield Parks Recreation are thrilled to announce the City of Pittsfield Park Square Virtual Tree Lighting. The show will air next Friday, Dec. 11th at 6 pm on PCTV Access Pittsfield Channel 1301, PCTV Select, and on our Facebook Page.
Santa and Mrs. Claus will host the show, which will feature the Pittsfield High School Band, Kids 4 Harmony, and the Taconic High School Chorus.

This year the city installed a 25-foot-tall tree in Park Square. The blue spruce was donated by General Electric in cooperation with Sabic Innovative Plastics, according to Becky Manship from the city's Parks and Recreation Department.  LP Adams Co., a building materials supplier in Dalton, helped position the tree.

Support for this program comes from Berkshire Bank, Berkshire Community College, RJ Stohr Diamonds & Fine Jewelry, and Jennifer's Cookies & Cakes.
