Pizza Delivery Driver Robbed at Gunpoint Tuesday Night In Pittsfield

Pittsfield Police are investigating the robbery of a pizza delivery driver at gunpoint that occurred Tuesday night. WWLP first reported the robbery late last night. According to Pittsfield Police, the robbery took place on South John Street at around 8:30 pm. The robbery occurred while the driver was making a delivery.
The delivery driver called the police after the robbery had occurred. According to the media report from Pittsfield Police, responding officers spoke with the victim who stated that upon exiting his vehicle to make a delivery, he was approached by an armed individual with a hoodie up over his head. The suspect struck the delivery driver with a handgun and then held it to his head, demanding the victim’s money. The delivery driver complied. The suspect then fled on foot.
A search for the suspect was initiated, based on the victim’s description. A K9 unit was dispatched to the area and a track was conducted. Members of the Detective Bureau, Crime Scene, and Drug Unit responded to assist with the investigation.
According to the report, the K9 track and subsequent investigation resulted in locating, identifying, and arresting, the suspect. His identity is not being released due to his age. At the time of the suspect’s arrest, additional evidence was found that connects him to the crime.
The Pittsfield Police Department is currently investigating a similar robbery that occurred on 10/09/2021 in which another delivery driver was robbed on Backman Avenue. That case remains under investigation.
