BOSTON (AP) — Massachusetts health officials say a child under 10 years old has died from the flu — the first pediatric influenza death in the state this year.
The number of flu cases in the Berkshires is up this year and with the vaccine available only being about 30 percent effective, you may wonder why the heck you should even bother. Well... you really should.
There has been a 44 percent increase in flu symptoms in Pittsfield in the last few weeks. IBerkshires.com reports that according to public health nurse Kayla Donnelly-Winters, there have been 32 total cases of influenza confirmed in the city since October 1st.
