Two More Local Kids Raise Over $1,000 for Operation Copsicle (Video)
The idea behind Operation Copsicle was an amazing one to help give back to the community. What has happened along the way? The community has given back to the Pittsfield Police Department to make this idea a reality.
For the second time in about a month, a pair of local kids have come together to raise over $1,000 towards Operation Copsicle. According to Pittsfield Police Officer Darren Derby, two brothers by the names of Jacob and Dylan made it all happen.
"Jack and his brother Dylan raked lawns, sought out donations and handed me a $1,185 donation to put towards Operation Copsicle," Derby said in a statement. "Just speechless!"
Also last month, VFW Post 448 donated $10,000 towards the fundraising effort. On Saturday, Balderdash Cellars will donate $1 of every bottle of wine sold to Operation Copsicle, which will be matched by Berkshire Money Management.
What these kids did was truly something special. You can watch a video of the donation below. As would be expected, Officer Derby was a bit emotional witnessing what had just been done. Great job, kids!
