A woman is facing assault charges after she allegedly stabbed a man in the chest Monday morning in Pittsfield.

The incident came barely a day after two shooting incidents, including the city’s first homicide of the year.

According to a news release from the police department, upon their arrival, shortly after 10:30 am, police found a 34-year-old male on Madison Avenue with multiple stab wounds. A knife was found and seized as evidence.

The victim, whose name has not been released, was taken to Berkshire Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition. 27-year-old Nakesha Peltier-Tarrance was arrested after a brief investigation.
