There is a very cool event revving up at Lime Rock Park this Labor Day weekend, and it kicks off this afternoon with a parade of classic race cars that is sure to please kids and adults alike. Lime Rock Park’s Historic Festival – Vintage Race and Sports Car Parade is a sight to behold.

The festival gets underway with what the Lime Rock website calls one of the longest automotive parades in the Northeast, the Vintage Race Car and Sports Car Parade. Bystanders viewing from the roadside have the opportunity to see more than 100 cars rally 17 miles through local towns.

The parade itself kicking off at 4 pm will make its way along a 17-mile route, including the towns of Lime Rock, Lakeville, Salisbury, and Falls Village. About an hour after the start, the entire parade of cars arrives in Falls Village for the Street Fair which features live music with the Berkshires own Wanda Houston, along with additional entertainment and some great festival food.

There is plenty happening to keep the kids busy too. The Kid Zone is just part of the activity off the track for the Historic Festival, with special appearances by Brian Redman and Stefan Johansson, multiple book signings over the course of the weekend with Redman, Johansson, Gordon Kirby, Skip Barber, Sam Posey, Bill Werner and Chuck Queener in addition to a pair of special dinners on Friday and Saturday evenings for select guests.
