Boston Park Bans Will Smith, Anything ‘Philly’ Prior to Super Bowl
When it comes to this Sunday's big game, I will be donning one of my many Patriots' jerseys, probably my Tom Brady Super Bowl Jersey from a few years ago, while I cheer on the greatest franchise in sports against the Philadelphia Eagles. Even so, I think the City of Boston is taking things just a bit too far when it comes to the NFL's championship game.
According to WCVB.com, The Esplanade, along the Charles River in Boston, has banned anything "Philadelphia-themed" from the park. That includes the likes of actor Will Smith, Sylvester Stallone, who is not even from Philly, just a character he played, any Philadelphia sports apparel, and even, yes, bald eagles!
The park, which runs from the Museum of Science to the Boston University Bridge, will keep the ban implemented until the "Duck Boats return to Boston’s streets after Super Bowl LII," this from the Esplanade Association.
Here is the list of what is banned through Sunday at The Esplanade:
- Any Philadelphia sports apparel (Flyers, Phillies, 76ers and Eagles included)
- Eagles (yes, even bald eagles)
- Cheesesteak sandwiches
- Cracked copper bells
- Soft Pretzels
- Philadelphia brand Cream Cheese (other brands of cream cheese permitted)
- Anything in the shade “Midnight Green”
- Mummers (What the heck is a mummer?)
- Will Smith and Sylvester Stallone
- Crisco
