The City of Pittsfield Department of Community Development will be hosting a public input meeting on Thursday, Feb.6th to discuss design ideas for an expansion of the skate park on East Street.

A press release from Pittsfield Mayor Linda Tyer’s Office says that current users of the skate park, as well as members of the public, are encouraged to attend the meeting which will be held at the Ralph J. Froio Senior Center at 330 North St.in Pittsfield beginning at 6 PM.

Using Community Development Block Grant funds, the city has hired Spohn Ranch Skateparks, a nationally-recognized design firm from Los Angeles, to lead community input discussions and develop plans for the park’s expansion.

The current skate park, which opened in 2011, was built on one half of the footprint of the former tennis courts. The proposed expansion seeks to build out additional features for skateboard and BMX users.
