Two juvenile males were taken into custody in Pittsfield on Wednesday after police say they possessed firearms and illegal narcotics. 

According to a media release from the Pittsfield Police Department, at approximately 1:30 PM it was reported to the Pittsfield Police Department that a male individual was in possession of a firearm at a residence on Francis Avenue in the city.  

When patrol officers arrived at the scene, they began conducting an investigation which led to the determination that three males had fled the residence and engaged in suspicious activity as they traveled through nearby properties on foot. A short time later, two juvenile males that matched witness descriptions where detained by police officers.

According to the police report, a subsequent search of the area netted the discovery of two firearms, as well as illegal narcotics which were apparently tied to the fleeing youths. Both suspects were arrested on several charges including: Possession to Distribute Class B Drug; Receiving Stolen Property; Possession of Ammunition without FID card; Possession of Large Capacity Feeding Device; and Carrying a Firearm without License. 

The investigation into the incident was conducted by members of the Pittsfield Police Detective Bureau, the Crime Scene Unit, and a K9 Unit assisted Patrol. Both of the juveniles were scheduled to have been arraigned yesterday through the Central Berkshire Juvenile Court.
